Vantage Retrofit Achieves EPC A+ Rating For Wolverhampton’s Mander Shopping Centre.
We were initially engaged at the centre to undertake a Sustainability Audit in 2022, with the asset hovering just above an EPC C rating. The audit highlighted the potential for a major solar installation, alongside the addition of lighting controls and daylight sensors.
The asset was already ‘electrified’ with no presence of on-site fossil fuels, so our goal here was to reduce the assets energy intensity and reduce reliance on grid supplied electricity for the common part areas.
We received the green light for the solar installation in January 2024 following a 12-week planning and feasibility period where our team tendered the works on behalf of the customer, carefully selecting installation partners.
We eventually set up site in March for a 7-week install that saw another project safely handed over on-time and on-budget.
Following practical completion, our energy team returned to re-certify the asset and we were delighted when the EPC A+ rating was confirmed – matching our modelled result at audit stage.

“This initiative, expertly delivered by the Vantage team, is a great result for our client and stakeholders. The successful PV installation ensures that c. 18% of the common parts utilities is generated by renewable sources, which reduces the utility costs for both landlord and tenants. We are very proud of achieving an EPC rating of A+!”
